The N.Y. Daily News article above "Saucers Runneth Over" from Aug. 8. 1984, was one of the first to take notice of the Hudson Valley UFO sightings, which The New York Times,Westchester County papers, and local TV news broadcasts did also. It mentioned the then upcoming Hudson Valley UFO Sightings Conference at a high school in North Brewster which would attract over 1,500, and which Harold Egeln attended.

'THE STONE CHAMBERS" DOCUMENTARY --- The photo gallery below is a series of video stills from a 30-minute documentary movie made by the late CAROLYN BARNES, a major force in the creation of S.P.A.C.E. at its very inception in March 1992 and a contact witness who was a WHITLEY STRIEBER NYC Communion Support Group participant in 1989. Upon relating a dream about mysterious stone chambers at the first S.P.A.C.E. Group meeting on March 25, 1992 in Manhattan, she heard about their reality, learning that HAROLD EGELN had visited them with other experiencers in Brewster and Putnam County from 1988 to 1992. Soon after group members took a trip to Brewster to visit some chambers and the Balanced Rock in North Salem, Westchester County, NY, shown above, and Barnes made her video. It was shown at a S.P.A.C.E. Movie Festival later in 1992, and later as the first episode of the group's "S.P.A.C.E..-BRIDGE" short-lived public cable access TV series in 1993-94, created by close encounter experiencers for the Manhattan Neighborhood Network. The video includes Egeln's sketches from his Aug. 14, 1988 and May 27, 1991 UFO occupants close encounters of the fifth kind, with witnesses, described further on this webpage. There are also some stills of the Village of Brewster,--- To view the pictures below in a larger size, click the first image, and the others can be followed thereafter.

S.P.A.C.E.'s CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIFTH KIND AWAY TEAMS

"There's a UFO over New York, and I ain't surprised." -- JOHN LENNON in line notes for his "Wall" record album about his UFO sighting over Central Park, witnessed from his Dakota building apartment in August 1974.

This page will highlight some of the experiences "S.P.A.C.E. Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind Away Teams" had in the 1990's near the Cronton Reservoir in Brewster, NY, for decades a UFO hot-spot once investigated in 1966 by LIFE Magazine photographers assigned by Henry Luce, LIFE's publisher.  The first illustration shown here is of a stone chamber, one of dozens that dot the Hudson Valley region in NY State, and above which UFO sightings have been reported as well as nonhuman entity sightings, as depicted in this 1992 drawing by J. Carra.

While the CE-5 work of DR. STEVEN GREER's teams are well-known, the extensive work and amazing experiences of S.P.A.C.E. are much less known but have been well documented on the original S.P.A.C.E, websites and our original "S.P.A.C.E. EXPLORER" Newsletters print issues in the 1990's. They were also the subject of a "S.P.A.C.E.-BRIDGE" public access cable TV program produced by abductee CAROLYN BARNES in late 1993 about a successful CE-5 effort between S.P.A.C.E. and a C-SETI member, who held the first S.P.A.C.E. Workshop on CE-5's the evening before the actual CE-5.

In fact and truth, it was Harold Egeln's CE-5's on August 14, 1988, and May 21, 1991, in Brewster with witnesses that spurred his curiosity, along with explorations of his own experiences since childhood as well as being a "buddy" to other contact witnesses, that led into his search project for aspects close encounters (in recognition of the breadth, depth and variety of UFO contacts) which developed four years after his 1988 CE-5 into S.P.A.C.E. in March 1992.encounters of the fifth kind

This homegrown version of close encounters of the fifth is a naturalistic and organic process along with suggested prodding by the UFO sources, aside from his own search for validation and truth.

CSETI, ECETI, SETI, Exo-Politics and others promoting peaceful CE-5 methods and searches have a human right to use their own concepts and standards, while not deriding or rejecting other approaches, especially those CE-5's that are generated by daring and peaceful UFO contact witnesses, the pathway of S.P.A.C.E.

The first photo at the top of this webpage is a the drawing of one of those old stone chamber, one of dozens scattered throughout rural, forested Putnam County, an hours' drive north of NYC. Hudson Valley UFO investigator Philip Imbrogno did extensive research on these chambers, suggesting that they were build by Celts who journey to New England before the Vikings, and he has written books about the chambers as well as the UFO sightings and UFO occupant contacts.

The third and fourth photos are of Balanced Rock in North Salem, Westchester County, on for UFO ce believed to be a glacial era boulder deposited naturally at the end of the Ice Age, but now considered to be, in centuries past, used as an ancient dolmen, a beacon for spiritual energy by Celts who may have settled in the Hudson Valley region before Columbus and Erickson made their voyages to North America.

The fifth photo is of Reservoir Road, more well-known as Upper Magnetic Mine Road, in the forested area of Brewster, NY within a few hundred feet of Croton Reservoir. It was on and near this road, off which is the oldest known stone chamber, where UFOs where photographed by the LIFE Magazine team in 1966, and two recorded missing time episodes were reported to Imbrogno, one involving entities and the other a UFO. It is the site where Harold Egeln, with a non-UFO experiencer witness had his first open contact sighting of nonhuman entities on August 14, 1988 after midnight, and a more extensive close encounter of the fifth kind with three other people late night on May 27, 1991. Shortly after, a Connecticut MUFON team investigated the site. With the advent of S.P.A.C.E. in early 1992, "S.P.A.C.E. Away Teams" of experiencers and supporters made numerous nighttime field trips to this area, often, but not always, watching UFOs and having nonhuman entity sightings and paranormal-like experiences.

The photo immediately above is a drawing made by a witness on the night of August 8, 1993 during a S.P.A.C.E. CE-5 Away Team to Upper Magnetic Mine Road in Brewster where the entity drawn here was observed.. The two photos above her drawing are of the rock outcroppings on a small g\hill above Upper Magnetic Mine Road in Brewster. Her account will follow.

The "ANCIENT AMERICA" video, recently seen on cable TV, is an episode of "Creepy Canada" about the Brewster and Putnam County stone chambers, with UFO and entity sightings there. A segment includes an interview with HAROLD EGELN about his August 14, 1988 close encounter of the fifth kind experience in Brewster, which he also re-enacts for the program. PHIL IMBROGNO is featured as the premier stone chambers and UFO investigator.

Below is a page from the same "S.P.A.C.E. NEWSLETTER" written by Harold Egeln about a crop circle design discovered on the morning of July 26, 1993 in the upstate Herkimer County and covered by the local media there. Two months earlier, COLIN ANDREWS and his future wife CYNTHIA visited the area famed for its "Herkimer diamonds." Later that day they took a tour of the Putnam County stone chambers led by EGELN and other S.P.A.C.E. participants.

By a meaningful coincidence (synchronicity) on the night of July 26-27 a S.P.A.C.E. CE-5 Away Team was at its Brewster sites while, hours earlier (because of the time difference) ANDREWS led a Circles Phenomenon Research/C-SETI team at Stonehenge in a coordinated CE-5 attempt at the two far-apart sites, At that time they were unaware of the Herkimer crop formation that appeared that July 26 morning before our joint CE-5 test. Was a "contact source" aware of our upcoming joint CE-5 test and signaled their knowledge to us?

Both teams experienced a strange "cloud" that floated above them, sudden shouting by a man at Stonehenge and in Brewster, where on Lower Magnetic Road our team heard many footsteps approaching ever-closer to them from a canopy of tree branches of the road, although nobody could be seen when we flashed our flashlights at the area. It was the closing in of the footsteps that made a UFO abductee suddenly scream in fear and loudly shouting, "They're here!" as he remembered the feelings he had from abductors in his  terror-stricken childhood abductions. The footfalls stopped and both he and Egeln witnessed a bright white light taking off quickly from a close-by hilltop into the night sky. A possible face-to-face contact, as suggested by the approaching unseen crowd, was apparently terminated by the source of the footsteps and white light's flight skyward in response and, seemingly likely in respect to the abductee's sudden fright outburst. When he came home to his Brooklyn apartment, a "message" was left in his apartment of a rabbit amulet, suggesting the source's awareness of the man's fears. The man at Stonehenge who shouted loudly, startling the team there, too, said he could not explain his outburst, but there seemed to be a connection with Brewster affair, a few hours later.

At the Herkimer crop circles site, a paranormal investigative group called the Questers, visited the site soon after the formation appeared, while local MUFON members photographed the formation from the sky. On August 7, a S.P.A.C.E. team led by Roberta Pulhalski of Connecticut and that state's MUFON, visited and investigated the site. Pulhalski, seven years later when she moved to Georgia and then Florida, founded the S.P.A.C.E. South Group, an independent affiliate of the main S.P.A.C.E. in metro-NYC. [More details can be read below in the S.P.A.C.E. NEWSLETTER article.]

This webpage will explore some more events that Harold Egeln, S.P.A.C.E. participants and others experienced as "Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind" - a proactive approach that was an exploratory and empowerment tool used by S.P.A.C.E. beyond the support aspect of the research group. These events were recorded in the or. 16)iginal S.P.A.C.E. website and print S.P.A.C.E. Newsletters.

Directly below are book covers from three of PHILIP IMBRONGO's books that followed his first book "Hudson Valley UFO sightings" which he did with Dr. J. Allen Hynek and Peter Gersten.  The books below are from the years 2008, 1997 and 2010, in the left to right order shown. The middle book was co-authored by MARIANNE HORRIGAN, involved in the intuitive arts, an essential characteristic and element of Hudson Valley UFO contacts.

Further down there is a photo-scan of the front page of the September 1993 print "S.P.A.C.E. NEWSLETTER" announcing a joint CSETI (Toronto branch) and S.P.A.C.E. sponsored lecture (Oct. 15) and workshop (Oct. 16) titled "CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE 5TH KIND:CREATING A PEACEFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH EXTRATERRESTRIAL INTELLIGENCE." On the night of Oct. 16 there was a CSETI/S.P.A.C.E. Away Team field trip to our site in Brewster, with a successful subtle, gentle and peaceful CE-5 as a result involving an entity and non-ordinary events that felt like "fairy dust" with a sparkling effect also witnessed. This CE-5 field trip was described by some of its participants the next day (Oct. 17) for an episode of our "S.P.A.C.E.-BRIDGE" public access cable TV program soon afterwards.

Below the CSETI event announcement are two pages from the same issue of the S.P.A.C.E. NEWSLETTER with a report summary of other CE-5's conducted by S.P.A.C.E. CE-5 AWAY TEAMS on August 8, and September 5-6, and UFO sighting reports in Greenwich Village on August 17, in Queens on August 1 (illustrations of the UFOs are shown), the George Washington Bridge, a New Jersey farm, the Bronx and Bay Ridge in Brooklyn in August and September 1993.

At the very bottom is the front book cover of "UFOs OVER NEW YORK: A True History of Extraterrestrial Encounters in the Empire State" by PRESTON DENNETT (Schiffer Publishing Ltd., 2008), an excellent compilation by UFO investigator Dennett. For unknown reasons, reference to the experiences of S.P.A.C.E. in Brewster and our work in New York were not, strangely, included, perhaps by an oversight. An so it goes, as Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. would say.

However, there is an item on a frightening close encounter experienced in April 1987 by commuters who were in a car, after pickup at the Brewster Metro North RR station, of driving on Reservoir (Upper Magnetic Mine) Road where they encountered beings "from outer space" and then witnessed a triangular-shaped craft over their car. Over subsequent nights the witnesses had dreams about being aboard an alien spacecraft. Hudson Valley UFO researcher PHILIP IMBROGNO investigated this case as well as a single UFO abduction incident on the same road, also in 1987.

If anyone visits the Brewster contact sites, for a dining stop, S.P.A.C.E. recommends BOB's DINER on Brewster's main street near the Metro-North RR station. It is closed late nights Sunday through Thursday nights, but is open through the late night on Friday and Saturday nights.

A New York "DAILY NEWS MAGAZINE" about the Hudson Valley UFOs from over 20 years ago is shown, in part, in the first two images in the photo galley below. The next six pages are from an article, also over 20 years ago, by a Connecticut MUFON chapter leader about the Hudson Valley stone chambers. Click images toenlarge.

During our CE-5 night field trips to the UFO encounter hot spot in Brewster, we often take a break, a dinner or breakfast at Bob's Diner near the Metro-North Station on Main Street. It is where we evaluate the events or non-events of the night, or prepare for the late night outings. Here is a video we found abound Bob's Diner and the portrait below is of Bob's Diner inside the dinner. Bon Apetit!

In a photo above the videos, UFO contact experiencers ROBERTA PULHALSKI and HAROLD EGELN of S.P.A.C.E. send greetings  back in the Autumn of 1992 from one of the sites of the ancient stone chambers in Putnam County, NY in a photo taken then. Puhalski, then an investigator from Connecticut MUFON, was known as "the Pensacola Beach Lady" due to a UFO sighting she had by the Gulf Breeze UFO hotspot. In 2000, when she moved south to Georgia she formed the "S.P.A.C.E. South Group." She, Egeln and others made many investigative visits to the stone chambers believed to have been built Celtic settlers centuries before the Norse Viking voyages to North America.

The YouTube video near the start of this webpage is a "Creepy Canada" TV series episode on the Hudson Valley stone chambers, the Hudson Valley UFO sightings and entity close encounters in the region, prime investigator PHILIP IMBROGNO, and nonhuman entities witness HAROLD EGELN as he re-enacts his breakthrough CE-5 on August 14, 1988 on Reservoir (Upper Magnetic Mine Road) Road in Brewster, Putnam County, NY. On this page is also the trailer for the award-winning 2013 documentary movie about the Hudson Valley UFO sightings "IN THE NIGHT SKY... I RECALL A UFO." There is also another documentary on the UFO sightings that attracted nationwide attention in the mid-1980's and led to two major UFO conferences in Brewster North, the second one in 1984,which Egeln attended and wrote a report about it.

The first documentary movie about the Hudson Valley Stone Chambers was made by CAROLYN BARNES, an experiencer who attended the first very S.P.A.C.E. Support Group meeting on March 25, 1992, having been, like HAROLD EGELN, a participant in WHITLEY STRIEBER;s COMMUNION NYC SUPPORT GROUP in 1989, where they first met. After having a dream about stone chambers which she reported at the meeting, without knowledge of the Hudson Valley stone chambers, she was startled to talk about the reality behind her dream. This led Barnes to make a half-hour documentary video movie about the stone chambers in Putnam County, and their UFO witness connections, and of Egeln's close encounters, with witnesses near the Brewster stone chamber, the oldest of about 125, on August 15, 1988 and May 27, 1991.

We plan to upload the video soon, an "Eye of the Beholder Production" by Barnes. Until then, we have a "STONE CHAMBERS" Magical Vortex Studio Photo Album below with several highlighted scenes from her movie, which include the color drawings Egeln made of the August 1988 and May 1991 close encounters of the fifth kind. The movie included a musical score by "STAN SATIN" and it was first shown at a S.P.A.C.E. Movies event in the East Village in 1993 arranged by Barnes, and soon after on the "S.P.A.C.E.-BRIDGE ' TV series she produced for S.P.A.C.E.

Barnes hosted many S.P.A.C.E. Group meetings at her East Village apartment and wrote several feature articles in the print "S.P.A.C.E. EXPLORER" Newsletter, and she was of the prime leaders of S.P.A.C.E. She passed away from cancer several years again and we miss her very dearly.

THE CE-5 WORK OF CSETI AND ECETI

The Close Encounters of the Fifth Kinds experienced by HAROLD EGELN in August 1988 and of S.P.A.C.E. in Spring 1992, and the years thereafter, preceded the rise of CSETI founded by DR. STEVEN GREER. In fact and truth, the "prearranged" peaceful CE-5 contact of August 14, 1988 in Brewster experienced by Egeln, with a witness, occurred as an organic, spontaneous generated event while Egeln was in his fourth year in his full-time job as executive director of the NYC office of large nonprofit peace organization (150,000 members across the nation, 7,000 members in NYC, 12 chapter in metro-NYC)) - the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy (SANE, now Peace Action).

Dr. Greer was an invited guest at a S.P.A.C.E. Group support and study meeting in late November 1992. Later in the 1990's a couple of CSETI activists incorrectly and with insufficient knowledge, rejected S.P.A.C.E.'s work as "fear" based when nothing could be further from the truth. Despite that, several S.P.A.C.E. participants, but not all, follow the work of  CSETI. We hosted, as mentioned further above, a CSETI lecture and workshop in 1993, followed by a successful and peaceful CE-5 at Brewster after midnight. An episode of our "S.P.A.C.E.-BRIDGE" TV series titled "CONTACT" included an interview with a CSETI member involved with the incident, describing it as peaceful and "gentle."

Here we recognize CSETI''s work making its own contribution to the CE-5 experience. And more so, we recognize the fascinating work of ECETI. The videos below explain their stories, on this CE-5 webpage.
